初のアジアecoversity allianceギャザリングが、今年の9月にバンコク周辺で行われることになった。（去年の国際ギャザリングは、エジプトのエコビレッジで行われたみたい）

The Ecoversities Alliance is committed to radically re-imagining higher education to cultivate human and ecological flourishing. Ecoversities seek to transform the unsustainable and unjust economic, political and social systems/mindsets that dominate the planet.
Ecoversities Allianceは、人間と生態系の繁栄を育むために、高等教育のあり方を根本的に見直すことに取り組んでいます。Ecoversitiesは、地球を支配する持続不可能で不公正な経済・政治・社会システム/考え方を変革することを目指します。
スケジュール的に無理だと思っていたけど、日程が空いたので、僕も参加することにした。
辻信一さんに紹介してもらったプラチャーやマニッシュも参加するので、彼らからインスピレーションを受けることや、アジアでエコバーシティに取り組んでいる多様な人と交流するのが楽しみ！
本編は４日間で、その後にオプションとしてLearning Journeyというのがある。チェンマイでのエコバーシティ的な取り組みを7日間体験するもの。カレン族の暮らしと儀式に参加したり、レージーマンと会ったり、僕もおすすめのPun Punエコビレッジに行ったり、さまざまな面白そうな人と取り組みに参加できるプログラムになっている。
いすみ市で育てている Isumi Ecoversity（仮）の紹介と、次のフェーズのエネルギーをもらいに行ってきまーす。このプロジェクトについては、去年おこなった大企画でちょっと紹介しているので、check out the link.

The First Asian Regional Gathering of the Ecoversities Alliance
at Wongsanit Ashram, Thailand
13-16 September 2022
held in an unConference format
Our primary focus is to bring together people who are deeply involved with reimagining higher education — working within, against, and beyond the modern education systems & universities — as well as in locally-rooted learning spaces that are regenerating community, ecology, local economy and a sensibility of coming back home. Many of these places are connected with different grassroots, social and ecological movements, indigenous communities, and others.
What is Ecoversities Alliance?
Ecoversities Alliance is an emerging knowledge movement that is slowly building all over the world, committed to radically re-imagining higher education to cultivate human and ecological flourishing. Ecoversities seek to transform the unsustainable and unjust economic, political and social systems/mindsets that dominate the planet. A part of this movement can be described as a network of ‘eco-versities’—people, organisations, and communities who are reclaiming knowledge systems and a cultural imaginary to restore and re-envision learning processes that are meaningful and relevant to the challenges of our times.
Although diverse in its origins, these different pedagogical initiatives both critique the existing education systems, and cultivate new practices to regenerate ecological, social, and cultural ecosystems, whilst also reflecting on the meanings of ‘home’ as locality and as an ‘economy’: hence the name ‘eco-versities’.
During the 4-day Asia Ecoversities Alliance gathering you can expect to:
- Get to know and connect with noble friends, like-minded people and groups,
- Share ideas, practices and dreams for unlearning and relearning,
- Get inspired by the richness and diversity of learning practices taking place in the Asian region,
- Be introduced to the Ecoversites Alliance, and
- Discover different possibilities with the network.
Board and Lodging: Accommodation will be simple – mostly in traditional, wooden Thai houses in shared dormitory spaces. (Single occupancy rooms are available upon request – and at additional cost). There will be 3 pescaterian/ vegetarian meals served a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
Travel: Most frequent international flights arrive in Bangkok (the capital), either at the Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Don Mueang Airport (DMK), both located about a 1.5h taxi ride from Wongsanit Ashram.
Cost: The estimated cost of participation in the 4-day gathering is $300 USD per person (including board and lodging). Nevertheless, the gathering will be offered in the spirit of gift culture. We invite people to contribute as much or as little as they can. Additionally, if you are not able to travel this year, consider supporting someone who can.
There is limited financial support available for flights, which participants are required to arrange for themselves and express the need for in the registration form. We will be considering geographic distances, relevant flight prices, involvement and activity with the Alliance, global privileges/injustices of geographies and currencies.
Otherwise, participants will also be asked to cover any visa or health-related expenses like travel health insurance or a PCR test.
Learning Journey: There will be an optional 7-day learning journey after the gathering visiting several projects in Central and Northern Thailand. Please keep an eye out for our future emails to keep updated on this offering.
